Thank you for your support!

Description

Join our amazing community to support a very special cause!!! Lumara Grief & Bereavement Care Society supports children, youth, and families facing the devastating loss of someone they have loved. Their loved one may have died from illness, suicide, medically assisted death, overdose, an accident, homicide, or any other cause.

They are facing life without them and the impact on their mental health can be devastating.

Lumara helps each person face the isolation and loneliness of grief through the creation of community. We bring people together who have shared experiences; help them to connect and support one another; and surround them with a compassionate team of professionals, Indigenous Elders, and trained peer mentors. Through expressive arts therapies, counselling, mindfulness, Indigenous healing, and adventure-based therapies, Lumara provides long-term support to transform loss, fear, and hopelessness into love, meaning, and hope.

One family explained it this way:

“Our surviving child, who is a teenager, finds this a free space to express her grief. This is a very special and important opportunity for her, and it makes us relieved that she can access her feelings and let it out. Knowing she has the support (especially peer support) and safety of community to connect with her feelings and let it out with love and sadness is a unique and crucial opportunity–I am so grateful.”

Thank you for making a difference for individuals and families whose lives have been turned upside-down by tragic loss. We are grateful for your support.
