My Story…
This year I am running the Boston Firefighters Memorial Road Race 10k to support the Boston Fire Department Relief Fund. This race will be very special to me, as I am running to honor my Papa, Jack Doyle, who was a firefighter for the City of Boston for over 30 years and battled with cancer for many years.
Statistics show that 67% of firefighters will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. The Relief Fund has a mission to "put out cancer in the Boston Fire Department" and all proceeds from the race will benefit their cardiovascular and cancer screening initiative. This initiative covers the cost of cancer screening tests and subsidizes the cost of cardiac screening tests for members of the Boston Fire Department.
Any little bit helps and is so appreciated. Thank you for your support!
