My Story…
I am participating a 5K run/walk event to raise funds for SCAD Research. SCAD, or spontaneous coronary artery dissection, is a tear in the heart's vessels which causes reduced blood flow or blockage and can result in a heart attack, arrhythmia, or sudden death.
Some of you know my sister had such an event a few years ago. I was with her when it happened. Fortunately, we were on the cardiac unit of a hospital (visiting our grandmother) when she collapsed and became unresponsive. Due to the quick actions of hospital staff who performed life-saving measures, my sister survived.
Over the past 10 years, SCAD research has really taken flight. However, there is still so much more to learn, including why it typically affects young, seemingly healthy women. You can help further in this endeavor by donating today!
Donate to help Heather raise money for Minnesota 5K SCADaddle for Research’s fundraising campaign.
