Please consider donating to Ascend - a program in Afghanistan that trained young women to mountaineer. The program uses hiking, camping and mountaineering to teach life and leadership skills and is the first program to allow women to climb in Afghanistan. The program went through an extraordinary difficult time when the Taliban seized the government and resulted in Marina LeGree (Founder of Ascend) and her Board of Directors working tirelessly to evacuate 134 of the women to new homes in new countries. Ascend is currently teaching young women in Pakistan and slowly but surely, moving back into their mission in Afghanistan.
