Our story…
Thanksgiving Day 2021 my life changed forever. I had a SCAD heart attack. I was in complete shock. At the time I was a healthy and fit 46 year old. How could I possibly have a heart attack? I went to Mayo Clinic and had appointment with Dr. Tweet (she does the research for SCAD). I was originally on 5 medications and am currently down to 3. I am hoping to come off all of them soon. I will be going back to Mayo Clinic in the fall for a 2 year follow-up.
Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little known and poorly understood type of heart attack. SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women & new moms. Most patients are younger healthy women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease. Although less common, it can affect men too. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.
Any amount of donation to go towards the research would be greatly appreciated!
