Our story…
Hey Friends and Family,
I am running in Carolina Youth Coalition's Signing Day 5K and Fun Run on April 29th.
What is CYC? Carolina Youth Coalition is a college-access and persistence non-profit that nurtures and propels high-achieving, under-resourced students to and through college.
While getting into college is certainly an accomplishment, there are myriad barriers and obstacles that can derail first-generation and low-income college students from persisting through college and earning a degree.
This is where CYC’s Persistence Program steps in! This holistic, individualized support follows our Fellows from the time they make their college decision through all four years of college to ensure they successfully transition to, excel in, and graduate from college with as little debt as possible. This program includes robust transition support during Freshman year, assistance with travel, technology, dorm room supplies, and other educational expenses, and connection to career development and internship opportunities.
Thanks to the efforts of the Persistence Program, 97% of CYC College Fellows have remained enrolled in college or graduated, a huge feat given the uncertainty and stress placed on a lot of students and families.
So I am calling on my network of family, friends, mentors, and educators to participate in the 5K or make a donation to my team. With our number of College Fellows growing from 114 to 160 next Fall, your support would mean the world to me.
Feel free to share this link with others and help me spread the word! Thank you and I hope to see you at the finish line.
