Help Catherine raise money

I hate running. Maybe it's because of the continual fight against my weak-ass ankles, maybe it's the wheezing and general lack of fitness. Whatever it is - it hasn't stopped me from signing up to participate in the Run Against Violence this year with KWILS - Katherine Women's Information & Legal Service Inc.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 14 men in Australia have experienced violence from their partners. This is just the known cases alone and don't even include children who have either experienced or been exposed to violence in their households. It is an insanely dangerous statistic and domestic violence rates in Australia are still going up.

We deserve to live in safe households, our friends and families deserve to live in safe households - but with a severe lack of adequate education, resources, services and support, we aren't able to guarantee this for victim-survivors or potential victim-survivors. This is devastating and only leads to increased trauma in an already traumatic experience. 

(Anyone who knows me, knows that I do NOT exercise - so believe me when I say that this is a crucial and growing issue in Australia and is worth me putting on my runners.)
