My Story…
Amber Hayes has been living and working remotely in Prince Rupert BC for the last 4 years. The route from Prince Rupert to the closest city of Terrace 143 km is an unpopulated stretch of Highway 16 (part of the highway of Tears) and one of relay legs.
Amber has participated in the Tears to Hope relay from Prince Rupert annually but will be visiting the Kootenay region of BC during the relay timeframe in 2023. The unexpected travel to the Kootenay region generated the (all be it last minute) idea of creating a Kootenay team to run the virtual event.
It is hoped this will generate more awareness for the Northern BC event and the cause.
About the Event: The Tears to Hope Society invites you to participate in the 5th annual Tears To Hope Relay to honour and remember our missing and murdered indigenous women and girls (MMIWG).This event is an in-person 10km relay taking place in picturesque northern British Columbia, from Prince Rupert, Gingolx, Smithers & Kitimaat Village, ending in Terrace.
Tears to Hope Missions Statement " The Tears to Hope Society provides support to the families of our missing and murdered loved ones. We encourage participation in raising awareness through organized events, while empowering people to take charge of their mental and physical health, healing and wellness."
View their website & videos of prior years runs to gain insight into Northern BC communities and the wonderful spirit of this event.
