Canicross Training Overview:
Here's are a few of the different aspects covered in the training:
- gear fitting / human & dog (ensuring everyone is set up with proper gear is important
- Body Language of your dog
- Commands used in mushing sports ( woah, trail, hold, easy to name a few)
- technique on how efficiently to move forward with tension on the line & why this is important
- Passing Safely
- how to embrace hills ( incline & decline)
- how to transfer these skills to other dog powered sports
- followed up with 4 weeks of at home training, trouble shooting calls, video analysis & so much more
Important Information:
To ensure a safe and effective training experience, the following requirements and considerations apply:
- Dogs must be at least 10 months old and fitted with a running harness.
- Humans must be equipped with a hands-free leash or Canicross belt and line.
- Some equipment can be loaned out during the training, but availability should be confirmed before signing up.

Online Course Details:
For participants opting for the online course, step-by-step videos covering all the material taught in the in-person training will be provided. These videos range from 5 to 10 minutes in length and allow participants to learn at their own pace and on their own schedule.
- In addition to the videos, there is an option for check-in emails if further assistance or clarification is needed.

About me.
I have been competing in Dog Harness Sports since 2018. I started out with a 9-year-old lab/ husky mix. The disciplines I compete in are Canicross, Bikjor, Skijor, Canitrail. I compete competitively in North America. In 2019, I qualified for the Canadian National Champions in the women's Canicross division and placed 8th in Bristol Quebec.
In 2022 to current I have been competing in Alberta, placing top 2 and hoping to earn a spot at nationals in 2024 racing in Canicross.
