I'm raising money to help people and families with autism live life to the fullest!
Description
Over 41 years since the organization was founded, Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation (MASR) has provided the resources necessary to empower children, adults, and veterans with adaptive needs to experience the transformative power of recreation. Maine is lauded as a land of recreational opportunity and while the state’s recreation is geographically accessible, significant barriers continue to obstruct the population of people with disabilities from many beloved activities. Maine Adaptive seeks to break down these barriers by equipping students with the instruction, equipment, and financial support they need to get moving outside.
The MASR approach is individualized and offers a full spectrum of services from private instruction through adaptive skills camps to meet each student where they are. From there, volunteers support students and their families to progress towards their unique goals through and beyond programming into more independent and healthy lifestyles. These program opportunities are offered in such activities as snow sports, biking, paddling, golf, tennis, climbing, and more.
Donations will directly support Maine Adaptive in continuing to provide free, no-barrier access for people with disabilities to participate in state-wide recreational activities. The team is excited to participate in this event to amplify our mission, learn more about other charity partners and meet new friends!
