My Story…

It is one of my life's great joys and achievements that we are in the 17th edition of the Strachan Hartley Legacy Run. We miss him all the time, but having this special day where we hear his name on repeat and see it on so many shirts reminds us of what we lost and what he inspired. We are Making a Difference in Strachan Hartley's name. I could not be more thrilled to have Streetfront as our partner. They espouse everything we hoped to find in an organization. Even better, our continued funding has transformed what the programme can provide the youth in that community. They can take the trip, pay for breakfast, buy the shoes.... One of my favourite stories is when they bought a suit so a kid - who nobody (including himself) thought would graduate - could walk the stage in dignity. Strachan would love that.

Donate to help me raise money for Streetfront!

The Strachan Hartley Legacy Run is a 100% volunteer event that exists to provide youth the opportunity to achieve their full potential through sports and education. Make a difference. We believe in the inherent power of sports to educate and develop young people in a positive manner – to teach crucial life skills that can make a difference between success and failure; perseverance and giving up; between potential fulfilled and potential wasted; between energy used for the benefit of society, and energy used against it.

Your donations will go towards the incredible Streetfront - an alternative program at Britannia Secondary School that provides at risk grade 8 to 10 students a unique combination of 60% core academics and 40% sports and outdoor education. The East Vancouver alternative program is economically, ethnically and socially diverse and serves kids who have struggled to cope in mainstream. 

Streetfront students and graduates are remarkable young people with great stories of personal triumph. By seeing the inherent value of each individual student and investing in their emotional, spiritual, mental and physical development, students unlock their own potential. Streetfront graduates have a 96% high school graduation rate. Most go onward to study, work and become active citizens.
