My Story…
Gracie Lee was diagnosed with Chiari 1.5 Malformation in spring of 2021. After suffering from severe vertigo, muscle weakness and debilitating headaches, which led to several MRI’s, Gracie was diagnosed with a Chiari 1.5 Malformation with Syringomyelia. We were so scared, mostly of the unknown. Our outdoor active, soccer loving little girl had got to where she could barely finish a quarter without falling out from exhaustion and dizziness. A simple cough or sneeze would put her to bed with an excruciating headache. Gracie had to quit gymnastics because she suffered terrible vertigo after just a few flips. In August 2021, Gracie had decompression surgery. A piece of her skull was removed to make more room and a durapatch was put in its place, her cerebral tonsils were removed, and C1 and C2 vertebrae were slightly shaved. The surgery changed her life. It was a rough recovery mentally and physically, but she persevered and is stronger than before. Gracie attends Itawamba Middle school where she is a cheerleader and a member of the soccer, golf and cross country teams. We are so grateful God placed Dr. Klimo with Semmes Murphy and Le Bonheur in our path. I am convinced Le Bonheur’s doctors, nurses and support staff are the best in the world. The FedEx Family House is a special place. We are blessed with great family and friends that helped get us through it all.
