My Story…
I started working at Hull Services in 2010, and about 5 years later the Matt Banister Memorial Skatepark was built on our southwest campus. I asked to get involved right away, and which eventually led to our team launching the Push To Heal project.
It has highlighted both for us as an agency and me personally the therapeutic potential of skateboarding when used intentionally and skillfully, and is a continuing learning process as I make space for activities like skateboarding in my own life to support my own positive mental health (and because I love to skateboard).
This event and the relationships and partnerships that are developing through it are in hopes of supporting suicide prevention and a suicide-safer local and international skate community.
