Calling All VolunTURKEYS!
We are looking for volunteers on Wednesday, November 27 and Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2024 in the Dana Point Harbor. There are a variety of shifts available on both days including working the Information Booth, Registration Check-in & Bib Pick-up Tents, Gear Check, On-Course Water Stations, Medal Distribution, and more.
Volunteers will receive a t-shirt upon check-in. Water and light snacks will also be available. Whether you need volunteer hours for school credit or love to give back, we are thankful for your time and appreciate your help in making this year's event a success!
Event Roles & Overview
Thank you for your interest in volunteering - below is a bit more information about our available volunteer shifts!
Event Set-Up: Help us prepare to welcome thousands of trotters to packet pick-up and race day! Roles include sorting supplies and setting up our check-in and registration areas, assisting vendors with setting up their booths and more. Volunteers should be prepared to lift boxes weighing at least 20 pounds, and be prepared to be constantly on the move.
Packet Pick-up: Assist participants who have pre-registered for the race by checking them in, assigning bibs and providing them with their selected t-shirt. Half of the volunteers in this area will be on iPad/iPhone devices checking in guests, while the other half will be busily running around grabbing t-shirts of various sizes.
Info Booth: Help answer questions and direct people where to go. FAQs, timelines and event overviews will be provided for volunteers in this area.
Registration: If online sales are not sold out, volunteers will assist runners with on-site registration. Volunteers should be comfortable utilizing an iPad/iPhone device.
Start/Finish Line: Volunteers will provide all of our finishers with medals and waters and help direct people where to go once they have completed the race.
Gear Check: Fast paced area designated to provide our runners/walkers with a space to safely and securely store their items during the race. Volunteers should be prepared to be on their feet and be comfortable with their ABCs.
Water Station: Volunteers will assist with filling up and distributing water cups to our participants. Role also includes cheering for our trotters as well as ensuring we leave the space cleaner than when we began the day.
Breakdown & Clean-up: Help the Turkey Trot team breakdown any remaining boxes and supplies. Volunteers should be prepared to lift boxes weighing at least 20 pounds, and be prepared to be constantly on the move.
