The Run for Rocky is BACK with Windsor-Essex PrideFest weekend. The 5 km Run/3 km Walk will take place on Saturday, August 12th beginning at 10 am at Dieppe Gardens. Complimentary shuttles will take participants to Lanspeary Park where the Run for Rocky After Party will begin at 11:30 am The shuttles will go back and forth from Dieppe Gardens to Lanspeary Park to accommodate participants travel between the two sites as needed.
The Run for Rocky Legacy Project is the only funding model of its kind in Canada that supports Gay Straight Alliance Clubs in local Grade schools (senior years) high schools and post-secondary schools in Windsor-Essex County. This financial support includes GSA grants, GSA scholarships, funds students and educators to go to GSA educational conferences, supplies educational resources that help support parents and educators, provides a GSA Toolkit with Booster Boxes yearly for GSA Educational Leaders and accommodates Diversity Training for educators. The event takes place along the beautiful Windsor Waterfront from Dieppe Gardens to the Ambassador Bridge. With an incomparable view of the Detroit River and Skyline along the route, this is one of the most beautiful Pride run/walk routes in Ontario.
The Run for Rocky Run/Walk will continue to fund local GSA funding and will additionally support Windsor's LGBTQ+ agencies. A portion of the funds raised through this year's R4R event will also be donated to the Windsor Pride Community, Windsor-Essex Pride Fest and Trans Wellness Windsor. The cohesive effort of all of these agencies working together ensures that our LGBTQ+ community and their families in this region are supported by strong services that meet the needs of the community.
Prizes will be awarded for the highest top three individual fundraisers and a unique Run for Rocky Pride Trophy will be awarded to the Team who raises the most funds. This coveted trophy will be held in possession of the winning team for one year and will have their team name/winning year inscribed on the trophy. The top 1st and 2nd finishing runners in three age categories will also be awarded with a medal (Senior-over 60 age category, Adult 18-59 age category and 11-17 age category.
Leashed dogs, baby buggies and children's wagons are welcome.
AFTER PARTY-11:30 AM-1:30 PM-PRIDE FEST PLAZA-LANSPEARY PARK-Live Music, Vendor and Food Booths
Free shuttle service will be provided at 11:15 am compliments of Cardinal Place for Run for Rocky participants between Dieppe Gardens & Lanspeary Park to go to the Windsor Essex Pridefest event.
Children 10 & under accompanied by a parent or guardian are welcome to attend the event at no charge and do not have to be registered.
