My Story…
Did you know that May is Celiac Awareness month? Celiac Disease is a chronic immune disorder triggered by gluten ingestion that leads to damage in the small intestine. It is estimated to affect 1 in 100 people worldwide and the ONLY current treatment is a strict lifelong gluten-free diet.
Our family journey with Celiac Disease started in 2013 when my son Bryson was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. It was a learning curve for our family and a huge adjustment for Bryson. The Calgary Celiac Association was very helpful teaching us how to read labels to identify gluten containing ingredients that would cause harm and where to find reliable sources of information and support.
Description
The Calgary Celiac Association is a small and local charity offering peer support, education, awareness, research initiatives and gluten free community events to those with Celiac Disease and gluten intolerance in Calgary and Southern Alberta. As a chapter of Celiac Canada our vision is to make life easier for all those living gluten-free.
