Help Erin raise money

For participating in Servus Calgary Marathon 2024

My why

Thank you for considering supporting my journey as I prepare to run my first half marathon. My passion for this cause runs deep, extending far beyond the physical act of running. It's about standing up for survivors of sexual violence and ensuring they are seen, heard, and believed.
I started STAND with a simple yet powerful mission: to ensure that no survivor feels alone.  As someone who has experienced sexual violence, I intimately understand the pain, shame and isolation it brings.  STAND is a community in which survivors are supported and validated.
Reflecting on my past experiences, I recognize how profoundly they have shaped me.  At 17, I endured my first assault, shattering my sense of safety and leaving me feeling broken. For years, I suffered in silence, burdened by the belief that it was somehow my fault. It wasn't until a younger family member confided in me about her own experience that I realized I was not alone, and it was never my fault.
Her courage led me to find the strength I needed to reclaim my voice and confront sexual violence head-on. I'm inspired daily by the survivors I work with and the progress they make. Yet, I'm keenly aware that much work remains to end victim blaming, shaming and the silence that surrounds sexual violence.
As I prepare to crush this marathon, I carry with me the stories of survivors who have entrusted me with their pain and their hope. With your support, I aim not only to cross the finish line but also to make a tangible difference in the lives of survivors everywhere.
Your contribution will not only support me on this journey but will also aid STAND in providing essential services to survivors and advocating tirelessly to end sexual violence.
Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can break the silence surrounding sexual violence.
Thank you for believing in me and in the power of STAND.
