Team Quest is Raising Money for Calgary Quest Children's Society's Therapy Programs!
Calgary Quest Children’s Society is a non-profit organization serving students and young people with moderate to severe developmental diagnoses through Calgary Quest School and Calgary Quest Resources. For over 40 years we have nurtured the potential of thousands of young people with unique learning needs, changing their lives and the lives of their families.
Families come to us after months, or often years, of feeling lost, excluded, and under-resourced. We allow these families to be seen, included, and supported. Students at Quest build friendships and develop a sense of belonging – often for the very first time.
With your generous donation, we will further our impact on the children and people we serve and maximize our ability to change their lives' for the better through our Therapy Programs.
Quest Parent, Board Member and Team Captain Ashley Kalenchuk on why he is running for Team Quest this year:
"We want our participation in this year’s event to be as inclusive as possible, building community amongst our staff, students, parents and board members while raising funds for our school and programs. As Team Captain, I'm looking for a team of 20 people to join me on Race Day, Sunday, May 26, to run, walk or roll whichever distance works for you!
Why am I participating?
Because my son, Dawson, was diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Pitt-Hopkins Syndrome, at the age of 1. This has severely limited him both cognitively and physically for 14 years now. Dawson has been attending Quest since the age of 7 and has received immense support from all the staff and therapists at the school. Having a safe and caring place where Dawson’s mental and physical needs can be supported and that also allows him to thrive socially, is rare in Calgary. Quest has given our family a great amount of comfort and we are very thankful for its existence. I am planning to walk 5K in this event, with Dawson in the Wike you see in this picture. He loves going for walks and 5K for me seems such an insignificant challenge when I see the extreme effort Dawson puts in to even walk 0.01K! I encourage you to join us with your own personal challenge on this day and help support a school that goes out of its way to support children and adults with disabilities like Dawson. Will you join us?"
