My Story…
Here I am, Easter 2006:
As an 18 year young adult Leukemia survivor, I'm as passionate as ever to support my peers who are or have been impacted too.
I'm walking the half-marathon in support of Young Adult Survivors United (YASU), the nonprofit I founded in 2020 (unintentionally with a pandemic).
MY WHY: I'll walk for those who can't, for those who are no longer here. I'll walk celebrating every milestone I've accomplished, every challenge I've personally overcome, and all the memories I've created during my survivorship. I'll walk with the utmost gratitude for anyone choosing to support my mission here.
A few years ago, YASU members and I played four square in the parking lot at a community center as one of the YASU socials. Look at their smiles. We still reflect on this day and the endless laughs shared. It's one of many rewards experienced through YASU.
We are a lifeline and memory makers!
Erin (in New Jersey), Merissa (in Cincinnati), and Christine (in Pittsburgh) met through YASU's virtual programming and have become the best of friends. Recently, they went on a weekend getaway and updated me all weekend about how much fun they had! As they say, "build and they will come." This completely melts my heart.
Danielle is a loving wife, amazing mom to 3 young children, and has been fighting so hard against a rare form of cancer. This photo was captured at the 2023 YASU Holiday Party. Pray for this family and know that because of donors, we've been able to provide this family with an abundance of love, helpful programs, and peer support.
I could share MANY more stories but hopefully you get the point.
From diagnosis and beyond, I'm here to represent an organization that provides community, camaraderie, and opportunities to create lifelong memories.
Every dollar counts. Every dollar supports these individuals and their families. Thank you in advance for following my journey that has created my purpose and utmost passion. I'm on a mission but can never do this alone.
THANK YOU!!!
