My Story…
In April of 2023, we lost my Dad, Bruce, to early onset Alzheimer's. He was my running buddy and my biggest cheerleader. I am dedicating this half marathon to him and to raising funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association.
Right now, there is no cure. Early detection and early diagnosis can be difficult, especially for those showing symptoms at a younger age. It is estimated that 6.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's. What our family learned during this very difficult disease, is that it doesn't just affect the person with Alzheimer's, it changes the entire family and impacts friends.
Through advocacy and fundraising, we can hopefully change the course of this disease. Instead of it being a life altering and life ending diagnosis, I hope one day there is a cure for Alzheimer's.
