My Story…
Last year, I ran my first half marathon. My very good friend was in hospice because he was dying from brain cancer. I found out how serious it was right after I texted him that I finished the half marathon. A few days later, he died. Marathon weekend means a lot to me because I pushed myself to do something I hadn't imagined. The whole time I was running, I was so excited to tell Joey that I had finished. I knew he would be so proud of me. I like to think that he knows I had him in mind as I crossed the finish line. Joey is in my thoughts and heart everyday now more than ever. Joey was full of love, kindness and understanding. He gave incredible hugs and always knew how to make sure you felt and knew you were loved. I want to honor his memory by raising money for brain cancer research and support for the families. I know how hard it was for me; I can't imagine what the families go through. I want to do my part to ease their financial burden, and maybe, find a cure so that no one else loses their Joey.
