My Story…
2024 will be my 8th year participating in Pittsburgh's race weekend and my 6th year as a charity runner. I’ve been able to raise over $4,200 for various charities. It has been so rewarding and it gives my race meaning. This year, I have decided to run the full marathon again.
Just like last year, MacKenzie will be running for charity too. This year, she will be running the 5k race with me. I'm so excited to take on this race with her.
Each year I've been a Run for a Reason runner, I've run for a different charity. This year I was having a very hard time settling on one. I started following all the excitement surrounding the TCS NYC marathon. One runner in particular caught my attention. Her name is Kayleigh Williamson. Kayleigh is a 33 year old athlete with Down Syndrome. She ran the New York City marathon and became one of the few runners with Down Syndrome (maybe the first female) to finish that race. How amazing is that?? She became my inspiration. These athletes have alot working against them and they continue to break those barriers. Because of her, I have decided that this year I will raise money for Special Olympics PA, Three Rivers Region.
Our goal is $1,500. We're excited for May! Thank you so much for your continued support!!
