My Story…
My name is Megan McDowell and I have always been a runner, but not a marathoner. I have identified as a sprinter, but since I have graduated college I have started running long distance to stay in shape. Since then I set a goal to eventually run a half marathon. I decided this was going to be my year. When I went to sign-up I decided why just do this for myself, if I am going to test my body, why not do it for a good cause. I thought there is not a better organization than Envision Blind Sports to support. The first time I ever heard of Envision Blind Sports was when I was doing my college internship with PA State Parks. We assisted with their summer camp, instructing these amazing athletes how to kayak. From that moment on I was touched, and my involvement with EBS has only grown. I continue to help with kayaking at camp with my job. Then I met my husband, who volunteered with EBS and works for other blind sports programs. My passion for blind sports grew and now I volunteer with Envision Blind Sports' other events they host throughout the year when my schedule allows.
My goal is to raise $100 for every mile I will run to help raise awareness for Envision Blind Sports and in support of my first ever half marathon.

WHO WE ARE: Envision Blind Sports is a program that provides year-round sport and physical activity opportunities for children and adults who are blind or visually impaired. We began championing our mission in 2006 and since then have become an official non-profit in 2017. Every year we are able to provide sports clinics, educational support, outdoor adventures, and a yearly camp to over 100 athletes.
