My Story…
In September of 2022 my dad was diagnosed with liver cancer & in May of 2023 we lost him. However, during those months, he showed us who he really was. While fighting cancer, he said he wanted to be an inspiration. Unfortunately, he had no idea what an inspiration he was. He fought hard & endured long days of pain & illness, but he didn’t complain. He cherished each moment he got to spend with family & friends until his body couldn’t do it anymore. Since he’s been gone, I’ve been at a loss…searching for some kind of goal or purpose & a way to connect with him. I’ve decided to train for the Pittsburgh Half Marathon & raise money for cancer research while doing it. When the miles feel long & my muscles want to quit, I will think of my dad & push on. I believe in cancer research & pray that a cure will be found in the near future. I will never forget the doctor saying that my dad’s cancer was “inoperable and incurable.” I will run with hope that there will be a day when no family has to hear those words with a cancer diagnosis. I greatly appreciate any donation you can make to The Rush to Crush Cancer in memory of my dad. Every dollar donated will go to the Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh.
Donate to help Allison raise money for 2024 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend’s fundraising campaign.
