Help Jane raise money

For participating in 2024 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend

My Story…

Although I have run on a relay team in the past, this is my FIRST year running in the actual PGH Marathon, with an actual crowd. No CoVID! No miniature race courses! No (hopefully...) instances of Jane running past the actual end marker and doing 4.6 miles, instead of 4.2...

Actually, I can guarantee that last one won't happen, because a) I am in terrible shape and b) I have the privilege of running the final leg to the finish line!

Why am I attempting this again, even though I am not much of a runner?! Believe it or not, it isn't because I will cross a real finish line, or have people cheer for me, though I am looking forward to both of those things!

I am running because I am raising funds for Haiti H2O. You've probably seen me post about Haiti H2O before - I work for them, I've run for them, I've even cycled to Cumberland, MD for them. Through all of these, I get to be a part of this amazing partnership with 4 communities in rural Haiti. I've seen them build / repair schools, build homes for those with no housing, start new quarterly medical clinics, pursue further education to give back and even start new micro-businesses, like the corn grinder in Bassin Caiman.

Projects like these are possible with supporters like YOU, coming alongside. You have probably heard something about the extreme violence and economic insecurity in Haiti right now. These partners need our support more than ever. Will you support my run this year, to bless our friends in rural Haiti?

Description

Haiti H2O is a development organization based in Pittsburgh partnering to transform hope into opportunity in rural Haiti.  Our approach is to take time to listen to local leaders and invest in their ideas, empowering them to make positive change.  We currently work with four rural communities in areas such as education, health and sanitation, business initiatives, home construction, and livestock cooperative.  H2O invests the money raised to impact the lives of people in rural Haiti!
