My Story…
I moved to Pittsburgh from Europe in August last year. I will be here for the next 5 years and the city has been growing on me more and more since I've been here. At the end of February I decided to run the Pittsburgh half-marathon. Just because it seemed like a fun challenge and I like running.
Around the same time, I met Mike. We've been having a lot of fun in the last two months and he has even graced me with his knowledge and care as a physical therapist, which has been much needed during my running training.
Over a beer at Silky's, the second time we met up, Mike told me he has MS. He told me about the expensive medication he takes through infusions every half year or so. I don't think I've ever known someone who has to deal with this shitty disease, let alone someone so young :( As you probably know, there is no cure for MS. With the medication Mike can cope with the symptoms quite well. But of course it's scary nonetheless.
Then I remembered I hadn't actually signed up for the half-marathon yet, and when I went to the sign-up page I saw the option to run for the National MS Society.
It would be really cool if you (my family and friends) would donate a little to the cause! I still don't actually know that much about the disease or the charity, but Mike says it's a great organisation so I think we can all trust him on that :)
Thanks! Love you all <3
