Our story…
To know Courtney is to love Courtney. Anyone who's been fortunate enough to meet Court, would describe her as nothing less than a social butterfly and life of the party with a memorable sense of humor. Courtney was born with Hydrocephalus and a seizure disorder. From birth, she has had multiple surgeries, hospital stays, therapies, and has been surrounded by incredible support systems. Courtney has been able to achieve milestones far beyond the doctor's expectations, including walking and talking. A year and a half ago, Courtney underwent a shunt replacement surgery that resulted in completely losing her vision. Since then, life has been very different for Court. Despite trying to maintain as much normalcy as possible, she lost a great deal of independence. Life's hardships have a way of creating blessings. One way she has been able to gain back some independence has been through Always B Smiling. Between the amazing community of people and the adaptive activities for adults and children with special needs, Courtney has been able to participate in adaptive biking and now, will be participating in the Pittsburgh marathon.
