My Story…
Hi friends,
March 2024 marks my 12th (!!!) year as a Big Sister to my "Little" Cassy.
We met when she was 11—a small, shy kiddo with a deep love for One Direction (she is wholly to blame for my Taylor Swift obsession today) and a single mom who has advocated so hard for Cassy. Now she's on the verge of 23—intelligent, articulate, passionate about justice and equity. I'm so proud of her despite the many barriers she still faces as she moves through the world.
Even though my official "commitment" as a Big Sis ended 5 years ago, these days I'm back to seeing Cass once a week—we're family now—and she regularly says she doesn't think she'd still be alive if it wasn't for Big Sisters. For her, this experience has been life-saving.
We've seen the transformative power of this kind of mentorship and we want so many other girls to benefit from it.
This year I'm running the full marathon (my second full, but first road marathon) on behalf of Big Sisters. I'd love your support for a cause I completely believe in.
Consider donating, and if you're interested in being a Big Sis or Big Bro, I'd love to share my experience with you. Please ask me about it!
Donate to help Amanda raise money for 2024 BMO Vancouver Marathon’s fundraising campaign.
