Help Chantal raise money

For participating in Around the Bay Road Race 2024

My Story…

Help me support this amazing project!

About the 3 Wishes Project:

The 3 Wishes Project was founded in the SJHH intensive care unit in January 2013.  We began the 3 Wishes Project to recognize our dying patients' inherent dignity and forge connections among patients, family members and clinicians to try to ease the grieving process. This is achieved by eliciting and implementing wishes that are meaningful at the end of life. Wishes are typically simple and inexpensive, yet experienced positively - a taste of food or beverage under the tongue, a visit by the family pet, favorite music playing in the room, a final toast, or surrounding the patient with things and people they love

A landmark innovation in end-of-life care, the 3 Wishes Project has evolved into a clinical program, fostering acts of compassion, implemented by the collaboration of multidisciplinary frontline staff including nurses, spiritual care clinicians, social workers, physicians, respiratory therapists, and many others.  The 3WP continues to be implemented in many other hospitals around the world. These small compassionate gestures and acts of kindness go a long way and leave a lasting impression. The 3 Wishes Project brings forth the dying person in the bed, and the life they have lived - surrounding patients with the people and the things they love most, supporting simple rituals, and helping families to create meaningful memories.

Thank you for caring!

Description

Welcome to my fundraising page!

I’m very excited to be participating in the Around the Bay Road Race (ATB) in support of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation. This cause is very important to me because St. Joe’s is in many ways the heart of Hamilton – nearly everyone in our community has been touched by the incredible patient care they provide.

Where Funds Raised Will Go at St. Joe’s:

When emergencies happen, every second counts. That’s why our Emergency Room (ER) is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. St. Joe’s is home to the busiest ER in the city caring for more than 60,000 patients annually – which equates to 167 visits every, single day. But after 20+ years, our current ER footprint is too small to keep pace with the growing demand for urgent care. To continue caring for our community, we need larger waiting rooms, more patient care bays, and a triage area that will better protect the privacy of our patients. Funds raised through the 2024 Bay Race will help construct a new ER at St. Joe’s Charlton Campus so that when emergencies happen, Hamilton can count on St. Joe’s.

I hope that you’ll consider supporting me as I take on the Around the Bay Road Race and raise funds for St. Joe’s. I’m encouraged by the support I’ve already received, but I still need your help to reach my fundraising goal. Every dollar we raise together will support hope, healing and discovery at St. Joe’s.

Thanks for your support!
