Thankfully, my career in healthcare information technology led me to Hillman Cancer Center almost 18 years ago. Since then, I've witnessed the rapid evolution of treatment options that specifically target cancer cells lowering toxicities and side effects, earlier detection of cancers allowing for better outcomes, and several aggressive difficult to treat cancers now being fully treatable in an outpatient setting. None of these life sustaining improvements in cancer care would exist without research. As an NCI accredited comprehensive cancer center, research is foundational to Hillman's ability to deliver the latest cancer services to our communities. My work at Hillman Cancer Center is rewarding because I see the efforts that my team and I make have a direct impact on our patients who are friends, relatives, members of our community, and part of the overall fight against cancer.
