My Story
I am fortunate to have spent over 30 years sharing the love and laughter, sunshine and stars with the incredible kids and counselors that create the magic of Campfire Circle (formerly Camps Ooch + Trillium).
This past year has been one for the books! A two week summer session in Muskoka, followed by in-city programming in fall, winter and spring and oodles of Weekends at Camp, supporting patients, siblings and families. Whether it’s watching the sunrise up at our Muskoka site or gathered around the campfire at Rainbow Lake, it’s amazing to see the impact that camp has on entire families. Kids with cancer making new friendships after being isolated in-hospital for ages, their siblings experiencing the fun of camp for themselves, or watching parents share moments with each other connect with other parents… the magic that is camp just never gets old.
I’m so excited to be part of bringing that camp magic to a whole new community this summer! This August I will be volunteering at a brand NEW session of camp – providing a fun and engaging medical camp experience to children with heart disease and children with serious blood disorders. We’re designing a session that will foster growth, friendship and learning and contribute to the overall enrichment of our community. It’s a first for Campfire Circle and I’m thrilled to be bringing more camp to more kids with serious illness.
Being a part of summer camp, fall and winter weekends at camp, and in city programing with kids and families alike has shown me how deeply serious illness effects these families and how much they benefit from the community and care that Campfire Circle brings into their lives.
Please join me in support of this amazing organization and help ensure our kids and their families get the fun, friendship and support they really need! Kids need camp and I need your support!!
With heartfelt thanks,
Bevalah
Description
Help deliver healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer or serious illness, it impacts the whole family. Kids miss out on simple childhood joys, household incomes are often cut in half as caregivers take on the full-time responsibility of caring for a sick child, and families struggle to make time for special experiences. When you donate to Campfire Circle you are supporting in-hospital, community and overnight camp programs that create opportunities for children to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall well-being. Through play-based experiences, you are helping empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis. With your support, we can continue to offer our programs at no cost to families and grow our circle of care to provide additional play-based experiences across all four paediatric hospitals, and improve our medically supported and accessible overnight camps so that every eligible child can benefit from our innovative and impactful programs. Thank you for helping to build a world where children thrive and families heal. |
