My Story
I do this run every year in memory of my daughter, Savannah Michelle H. Munoz.
Savannah was a beautiful soul, with a contagious smile who fought cancer at a young age but unfortunately lost the battle.
This organization, which was formerly Camp Ooch, was a life saver throughout her treatments.. The volunteers are amazing and without a doubt never failed to bring a beautiful smile to her face. Her wish was always to be able to attend camp out of the hospital... but she was never well enough to attend (and it was a short battle for her).
Camp Ooch (Campfire Circle) was crucial to my other daughter's grief process as she was able to attend the bereaved siblings program. Here she was able to meet the amazing volunteers and make lifelong friendships with kids "just like her".
Hopefully Mia will be able to attend as well, as this is something we will live with forever.. and forever we will be coping with our loss.
This is a great organization that all kids going through treatment can attend, and as well supportive to grieving families.
We are forever thankful to Camp Ooch (Campfire Circle).

Help deliver healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer or serious illness, it impacts the whole family. Kids miss out on simple childhood joys, household incomes are often cut in half as caregivers take on the full-time responsibility of caring for a sick child, and families struggle to make time for special experiences. When you donate to Campfire Circle you are supporting in-hospital, community and overnight camp programs that create opportunities for children to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall well-being. Through play-based experiences, you are helping empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis. With your support, we can continue to offer our programs at no cost to families and grow our circle of care to provide additional play-based experiences across all four paediatric hospitals, and improve our medically supported and accessible overnight camps so that every eligible child can benefit from our innovative and impactful programs.
