My Story
My story with Camp Fire Circle formerly known as Camp Ooch began in 2010 with my brothers diagnosis of cancer.
I began running every year in his support and the magic continued year after year.
2018 I found myself with extra lieu time from work travel and decided to take my support to the next level and volunteered to be a camp counselor.
What an amazing opportunity to experience first hand what fundraising provides for the kids.
It was so gratifying watching so many people coming together in one place to connect and support one another.
Sharing the common understanding of why this organization needs volunteers and funding to keep this magical place to keep building positive momentum and most importantly, creating memories with amazing people.
I will never forget the experience of hearing 150 children's singing Country Roads, "take me home" after a meal in the dinning hall.
Watching a child gain back their confidence day after day either canoeing, fishing, swimming, or just simply sharing a story of their experience with cancer.
This organization needs support, I am and proud to be just a small part of it, and blessed with meeting so many wonderful people along my journey with them.
Thank you all who have decided to lace up and run with and for the kids of Camp Fire Circle!
Description
Help deliver healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer or serious illness, it impacts the whole family. Kids miss out on simple childhood joys, household incomes are often cut in half as caregivers take on the full-time responsibility of caring for a sick child, and families struggle to make time for special experiences. When you donate to Campfire Circle you are supporting in-hospital, community and overnight camp programs that create opportunities for children to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall well-being. Through play-based experiences, you are helping empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis. With your support, we can continue to offer our programs at no cost to families and grow our circle of care to provide additional play-based experiences across all four paediatric hospitals, and improve our medically supported and accessible overnight camps so that every eligible child can benefit from our innovative and impactful programs. Thank you for helping to build a world where children thrive and families heal. |
