Our Story
It's hard to believe treatment ended 4 years ago for Ivy. Ivy was diagnosed at 21 months with Leukemia. The treatment lasted 800 days, ending just as she turned 4. She is now 8 and the definition of "full of life". She lives for Cheerleading and finding opportunities to make you laugh. Her laugh is the sound of joy.
There were many dark days. But the Campfire Circle hospital program brought bright spots, days that still shine in our memories. When we ask Ivy about her time at Sickkids, she rarely talks about the tough stuff. She talks about Campfire Circle.
Ivy went through 15 blood transfusions, 100+ blood draws, 20+ xrays/MRI/ultrasounds, numerous complications, monthly lumbar punctures, more emergency rooms visits and hospital stays I care to count, and a tackle box of medications... Campfire Circle was always there. Sometimes it was a craft, playing the same Frozen ukulele songs over and over, putting together lego, helping string her bravery beads (she has over 1000), anything to help Ivy smile and let her be a kid. Not mention giving us as parents a moment to get a coffee :)
Today our family & friends ask you to consider giving to Campfire Circle, so other families can also have these moments & memories.
Description
Help deliver healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer or serious illness, it impacts the whole family. Kids miss out on simple childhood joys, household incomes are often cut in half as caregivers take on the full-time responsibility of caring for a sick child, and families struggle to make time for special experiences.
When you donate to Campfire Circle you are supporting in-hospital, community and overnight camp programs that create opportunities for children to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall well-being. Through play-based experiences, you are helping empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.
With your support, we can continue to offer our programs at no cost to families and grow our circle of care to provide additional play-based experiences across all four paediatric hospitals, and improve our medically supported and accessible overnight camps so that every eligible child can benefit from our innovative and impactful programs.
Thank you for helping to build a world where children thrive and families heal.
