My Story…
I am fundraising for my brother Gabriel. This is his story...
Hello, my name is Gabriel, and I am 9 years old. Please take a few minutes to read my story because I really need your help. When I was in Senior Kindergarten, doctors found a tumour on my skull. I had brain surgery and underwent chemotherapy to save my life. The rules at the hospital were strict because of Covid. It was lonely and terrifying, but it was also hard to see my family so scared. I felt sick most days following treatment, I could barely get out of bed, and I had a hard time eating and walking from the pain. I couldn’t play with my friends and I missed a lot of school. I had to be extra careful to not get sick because a simple cold would send me back to the hospital. It was the hardest thing I ever had to go through and the worst part was I didn’t know if I was going to be okay.
When I was struggling, the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted me a wish to visit Disney World and to stay at The Give Kids the World Village Hotel. I felt so happy and almost forgot about being scared and the pain I was going through. My family and I were given this amazing opportunity to go to the most magical place in the world and forget about our reality for a little bit.
When a child is critically ill, Make-A-Wish grants them a cherished wish, giving them strength and resilience to fight their illness. The impact of this kindness means so much during the hardest and most terrifying time of our lives.
Give Kids the World Village Hotel has been a sanctuary for over 193,000 families from 77 countries, offering a truly magical and life altering experience. These wishes are only possible through the generous support of donors.
I am deeply grateful to Make-A-Wish, and I really want to give back to support other children who are suffering through these terrible illnesses. Just a few years ago, I was too weak to even throw a basketball over my head, but this year, I got a spot on the school basketball team. Now, I am strong enough to participate in the 5KM Foam Fest to raise funds and help Make-A-Wish fulfill the wishes of other critically ill kids, like me.
I can't do this alone. This is where I need your help. I am taking part in the 5KM Foam Fest in Uxbridge Ontario, on Sunday, August 25th, 2024, with my family and some dear friends, under the team name 'THE GLADIATORS'. We would be thrilled if more friends would join our team. Together, we will conquer 25 obstacles, including the world's largest inflatable water slide, mud pits, and 2.5 million cubic feet of foam! The entrance fee is $64.99 per person. If you don’t want to get muddy and wet, you can also support our team 'THE GLADIATORS’ by sponsoring us to raise money for Make-A-Wish. Every single donation goes directly to Make-A-Wish, and even the smallest donation can make a big impact.
Your generous support will help Make-A-Wish fulfill more wishes for critically ill children and bring a smile through the tears as they battle the darkest time of their lives. Thank you for reading my story and for helping us with your generous support.
