My Story…
Our daughter, Elena was born last year. She came into the world 6 weeks premature, weighing in at just 4lbs. She was too small to nurse or to drink from a bottle and too small to regulate her own body temperature. Elena's first few days of life were nothing like what we imagined. Instead of being in the comfort of her new home, surrounded by family and taking long naps in the comfort of her parent's arms, she spent the first days of her life in a loud, bright hospital room, hooked up to machines, and being poked with needles. Although preemie babies will never remember these first days, weeks, or months, their parents will never forget them. Elena stayed in the NICU for 9 long days until we finally got to bring her home. Although this experience was difficult for our entire family, we were more fortunate than many parents of preemies who spend weeks or even months in the NICU.
The Canadian Premature Babies Foundation is a parent-led charitable organization that provides education, support, and advocacy for premature babies and their families. As a parent of a preemie, I know that all support and resources are always welcome, not only during their hospital stay but in the months and years that follow.
Myself and the Canadian Premature Babies Foundation would greatly appreciate your donation, no matter the amount.
