My Story…
Hello friends, family, and internet pals! 🤍🐈⬛
I'm back to participating in the Toronto waterfront 5k to fundraise for Annex Cat Rescue, the non-profit I volunteer with and foster through.
Annex Cat Rescue
ACR is 100% volunteer based and relies on homes like mine to intake stray cats, foster them while they get medical care and become socialized, and eventually help them find their loving forever homes.
ACR volunteers also take care of cat colonies around the city, making sure even feral cats have food, warmth, and medical care and performing "trap neuter release" to prevent more homeless kittens.
My fostering experience
I've been involved with ACR for half of my ~9+ years in cat care, since I moved to Toronto. I've tried out a few other rescues in the city but did not have the confidence that they were caring for the cats or equipping volunteers as best as ACR. They are truly one of the best in my opinion!
I've been lucky to help many cats find a new family through ACR, including the two "foster fails" by my parents (hi Nellie and Cindy!).
How fundraising helps
As the weather turns, ACR's work is critical to preventing cats from freezing to death in frigid Canadian winters. In 2022, lack of donations made it impossible for ACR to intake any new cats in winter months. With your help, ACR can pay the vet fees necessary to place cats in foster housing like mine, as well as their other important contributions. Please consider donating for the cats!
