My Story…
Hello future donors! My name is Mackenzie, but at camp I’m better known as Uber or Uberbacon. I’m raising money to run the Twin Cities 10 mile on October 6th, 2024 for YMCA of the North’s Adventure Team, a cohort of 17+ camps and adventure programs that offer outdoor experiences for all ages, 365 days a year. Y Adventure is fundraising specifically to increase our equity, inclusion and belonging efforts- including but not limited to: scholarships, trainings, continued learning experiences for our staff, and more! Y Adventure is committed to creating inclusive, accessible spaces that acknowledge shared history and nurture diverse communities.
I am currently in my 6th summer as Program Director at Camp Heritage, and have been on staff since 2012. But my journey with Y Adventure started long before that. When I was 6 I started attending Y Day Camps and to say camp changed my life is an understatement. Camp has helped shape who I am, taught me valuable life lessons and allowed me to grow into the best version of myself. The intrinsic value of the outdoors is something I believe every person should have access to, it is a healing place, a place to connect with others, create lasting memories and friendships. Please help me in our effort to ensure that we can a space of healing, growth and belonging for people of all backgrounds.
Any amount, big or small, will make a difference. Help me reach my $500 fundraising goal and get to the starting line of Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend by donating today! All proceeds will go directly to supporting our team’s equity, inclusion and belonging efforts.
