Hello Dear Family and Friends, Near and Far!

I hope this message finds you all safe and well as we head into full-on summer!
It's hard to believe, but our dragon boat crew, Herricane Winds, had its first season of paddling in 2001.  So 2024 marks our 24th season together!  This year is also the Year of the Dragon in Chinese culture, so we are feeling very excited about the upcoming Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival, taking place June 21 - 23 at Mooney's Bay Park.

Herricane Winds continues to be a significant force in the racing lanes and on the fundraising front. We hopefully will participate in the Charity Cup Final once again this year, provided we qualify as one of the top 8 Women's Fundraising teams by June 20, 2024.  Thanks to the generous donations of family, friends, and colleagues, we have been in this extra race since 2009!

The charitable organizations we are supporting this year include Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Chelsea Foundation (La Fab sur Mill), CHEO Mental Health - to support the Eating Disorder program, Lotus Centre for Special Music Education, Ottawa Therapy Dogs and Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

As you can see, these charities continue to focus on supporting children and families in our community in specific ways!!!

Your interest and generousity over the years has been so wonderful!!! It's always great to have you "in the boat" with me!  

With thanks and appreciation for your participation and support!  And do feel welcome to join us at the Festival.  There's racing, food, entertainment, kiosks, and all sorts of good fun!
