My Story…

Last year I successfully ran the Mount Washington Road Race under historically challenging weather conditions… and now, I’m doing it again!

This is an all uphill road race that is 7.6 miles long with 4,650 vertical feet of elevation gain, and a 22% max grade.

I am planning to run the race again this year, with the additional challenge of raising funds for the Coos County Family Health Services. This organization offers a broad range of Health and Social Services to children and adults including primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, podiatry, behavioral health, oral health, and programs that address the needs of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Please help me meet my goal of raising $200 to support the important work of this organization. After that, I will take care of the hard part by running up the tallest mountain in the northeastern United States.

Description

After many years of support, Delta Dental became the title sponsor of the Mount Washington Road Race in 2012. Since then, the strong partnership between Delta Dental and the Mt. Washington Auto Road, bolstered by the Auto Road’s ongoing commitment to local communities, has resulted in annual donations totaling over $300,000 to Coös County Family Health Services (CCFHS).

CCFHS is a nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of North Country residents, regardless of income or insurance status.

“The support we’ve received from Delta Dental and the Mt. Washington Auto Road has made it possible for us to provide dental care for many North Country residents who would have otherwise gone without,” said Ken Gordon, chief operating officer at CCFHS.

Looking toward the future, Ken said, “we hope to establish a dental clinic in Colebrook, and to begin work on expanding the dental clinic here in Berlin, so these funds will be put to good use.”

CCFHS has been helping to provide families with affordable health care since 1974, and has grown to become one of the largest rural Federally Qualified Health Centers in northern New England.

Our goal for 2024 is to raise $65,000 for rural dental care north of Pinkham Notch. Run for health!
