My Story…
Last year, I participated in this race while still recovering from my first mastectomy. This year is very different, I am healing, I am in remission, and I am so proud of how my body overcame this fight of breast cancer. This June, after a ten-ish month journey I rang the bell of 'hope'! At age 26, it was a complete shock that I would receive news of my stage three breast cancer diagnosis. My journey began very quickly -- within weeks of the diagnosis I completed two rounds of IVF Egg Freezing then a mastectomy, four months of chemo, another surgery where I completed a double mastectomy, and lastly 28 sessions of proton therapy. While I am completed with treatment, each day I take three pills that remind me this journey is not over. I am extremely grateful to say that I am in remission. I am so blessed for the team of doctors, friends & family that stood in my corner praying & cheering for me while I took this head on. This year's walk, I feel more like myself. I walk with a mission to share my story, advocate and support the breast cancer community, and raise money for the resources that fight to find a cure.
