My Story…
It is an honour to be running with Team Mimi again this year. I ran my first relay with the team in 2014 and then again in 2017. This year will be extra special since I'll be running with my son, Jack (20 yrs). I'm absolutely thrilled to be sharing this experience with him!
I'm running to be a part of this fabulous team, for the amazing scenery, and to regain my physical fitness.
But I’m also running to honour a cause that my friend Myriam (Mimi) holds dear to her heart. Mimi was first diagnosed with a brain tumour 18 years ago. She had 2 young children at the time and battled through 2 major brain surgeries at the Ottawa Hospital, radiation and chemotherapy. Mimi's courage and strength (and energy) are inspiring, and her personal battle with cancer reminds us that life is precious.
Brain tumours are unpredictable and complex. They can affect vision, hearing, memory, balance, and mobility. Their effects are physical, emotional, financial, and last a lifetime. The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada has been making a difference in the lives of the over 55,000 Canadians currently living with a brain tumour and thousands more before them by providing support, education, information and research funding.
If you could donate to their cause, it would be greatly appreciated. Any amount welcome!
Thanks so much!
