Help Jack raise money

For participating in Banff Jasper Relay

My Story…

Who I am: My name is Jack Matsukubo I am 19 years old, I am the son of Myriam Charron (Mimi) she is a brain tumour survivor and the captain of this relay team. This will be my third time attending the event (2014, 2017) and my first year fundraising. I would have loved to run this year but since I am a hockey player I cannot permit myself to run long distances (I also just don’t like running long distances). I will be the support driver taking runners to their starting points and taking care of them throughout their leg of the race. My mom, dad and sister will be there running the relay, so it will make for a great family experience. I can’t wait to be supporting the 18 runners as they trek through the great Canadian Rockies. I look forward to making great memories with my family and friends in the beautiful landscape of the Canadian Rockies as they run to support the Brain Tumour Foundation.

Reason For Participating In The Relay: I am participating in this event for my amazing, courageous, brave and beautiful mother. When I was 2 years old my mom was misdiagnosed and given 12 months to live. She fought through 2 long and hard craniotomies followed by 2 months of radiation and over a year of chemotherapy. She thankfully survived and is keeping an active lifestyle and keeps on staying positive everyday. She is the back bone to my wonderful life along with my dad. Her positivity and strength through this long battle is what motivates me to keep pushing and smiling everyday. I am so grateful for the amazing team of doctors at the Ottawa civic hospital and the Ottawa Cancer Center that helped support my family and gave me the opportunity to grow with and cherish my amazing mom.

My mom created team Mimi back in 2008 as a way to help give back and help support the cause, the team has competed in this event 5 times since.  The organizers of this race is the Brain Tumour Foundation. They are a large group of amazing volunteers for a non-profit organization dedicated to reaching every person in Canada affected by brain tumours. They provide help, support, education and information to families or individuals in need. They also fund brain tumour research.
