My Story…
Join Me in a 10 km Run for a Greater Cause!
As an uninvited settler who relocated to Vancouver from Hong Kong two years ago, I’ve been driven by a deep commitment to instill hope and advocate for justice in our community.
Through my work in 2022 with a small-scale NPO supporting underprivileged seniors in the Single Room Occupancies (SROs) of the Downtown Eastside (DTES), and in my current role as a social worker with one of the health authorities assisting people struggling with substance use, I’ve witnessed firsthand how deeply systemic structural issues affect these communities. Added with my volunteering with Correctional Services Canada, where I regularly visit and support those who are incarcerated, has further highlighted the urgent need for more support for the underprivileged in this affluent city.
Despite my limited Canadian experience, I am eager to contribute my compassion, expertise, and running miles to support marginalized communities on the unceded and traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
