Help Kaitlin raise money

As I begin training for the 2024 Philadelphia Marathon, I’m excited to announce my participation with the American Association for Cancer Research Runners for Research team. It is an honor and privilege to run for those fighting, and the warriors no longer with us. 

I vividly remember the day cancer entered my world. I was ten years old, asking my grandmother questions for a history project. 

“What is your goal?” She thought I didn’t know how to spell cancer when I paused with her response - to beat cancer. 

Over the next year, I watched the woman I idolized lose many parts of herself until I eventually had to say goodbye to her. But my grandmother accomplished her goal, every day she beat cancer. Her strength never wavered, and she never quit. 

This past year, I was suddenly hit with the familiar loss of another strong and tenacious woman - my aunt. She accepted every challenge with her fiery spirit and determination. She surprised me last year, cheering me on through one of the hardest points at the turnaround around mile 20 in Manayunk. This year, I will still look for the woman who has always been in my corner. 

I am raising to give back to AACR in hopes of a future where no one has to lose their loved one to this disease. Funds raised support the AACR’s mission to prevent and cure all forms of cancer through research, education, communication, and advocacy for cancer research. The AACR is the first and largest cancer research organization dedicated to preventing and curing all cancers.
