My Story…
This past spring, I traveled to Ghana and spent 4 days in the small village of Senase, visiting its Semanhyia American School (SAS), founded by local villager Fred Benneh Frimpong. Attending a public school as a youth over an hour away with only a chalkboard under a mango tree, Fred understood firsthand the need for improved education in Senase, and dedicated his life to the SAS. Fred is a rare, inspiring individual who profoundly changed my perceptions about education and life. Semanhyia translates to “if we had never met” and I’ve reflected on this phrase often since departing Ghana.
I am running this marathon primarily to fundraise $100 or more for the GodFreds foundation. The funds specifically would go towards the construction of additional classrooms to enable the SAS to broaden its reach and provide more students with a quality education. Contributions of any size would make an impact!
