As a breast cancer survivor, I know firsthand the impact that cancer research can have. In January 2020 I was diagnosed with Triple Positive Breast Cancer (grade 3). A very aggressive and invasive type of cancer. After a difficult year of treatment including 12 rounds of chemo, 26 rounds of Herceptin,  5 surgeries and continuing daily medication to ensure I stay in remission, I am grateful every day for the scientific progress that saved my life. 

I would not have overcome my cancer, without the groundbreaking research and treatment made possible just 15 years before my diagnosis. I am living proof of the lifesaving impact of innovative cancer research. 

Prior to the development of Herceptin, women with my diagnosis lived an average of  3-5 years. As I approach my 5 year anniversary I have an overwhelming appreciation knowing that thanks to advances in cancer research women with my diagnosis can expect to live long healthy lives. 

Cancer touches countless lives, but it’s the advancements in research that give us hope for better outcomes and, ultimately, a cure. The research that saved my life was made possible by the generosity of individuals like you—people who believe in the power of science, innovation, and compassion.

As I prepare to run the Philadelphia 1/2 marathon on November 23rd, I am raising funds for the American Association of Cancer Research. AARC is the largest cancer research organization dedicated to accelerating the conquest of cancer.
