At age 15, Audra was suddenly taken ill and admitted to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with blood cell counts that were dangerously low. It took a few days, but the experts at Children's were able to identify the cause as one of the 7000 Rare Diseases, Secondary Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis, or HLH. Her battle began, and thanks to Children's, she is a survivor. We run this race to fund the research to find a cure so no parent or child or family member ever has to hear the diagnosis of HLH.
