Hi! Thank you for coming to my donation page! My name is Karina. I'm thrilled to be participating in the Falmouth Road Race with Team NF Northeast once again this year. At 6 months old, I was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disorder that causes tumors to develop along the nerves in the body. NF Northeast’s mission is to find a cure for this condition.


I have small tumors in my brain and along my spine that are being closely monitored with yearly MRI’s and they thankfully haven’t been growing or showing any activity. They have shrunk a small amount since 2014. 


In November 2023 I began experiencing seizures. My doctors have not been able to ultimately find the definite cause of these sudden seizures. I've been seizure free for almost 6 months. I am excited to run the Falmouth Road Race again this year. I am not a runner by any means but I run for those fighting NF who are unable to advocate for themselves❤️.

More than 100,000 Americans are living with neurofibromatosis, and it affects over 2 million people worldwide. Symptoms can differ greatly in occurrence, severity, and age of appearance between patients. This makes NF difficult to identify and diagnose. If NF is suspected, genetic testing is typically the most appropriate way to diagnose it.
