Help Patricia raise money

For participating in The 2024 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

My Story…

Last June I was contacted by my good friend Tara Waters and asked if I would run the Falmouth Road Race for Tommy's Place.  It was an honor for me to be asked and although I hadn't been running, I said yes! The Falmouth Road Race was on my "bucket list" and after visiting Tommy's place with her son the Mighty Quinn, who was their first visitor, I thought to myself this place is probably the most incredible place I have ever been to in my entire life.

Unfortunately, the week leading to this race I was diagnosed with Triple Positive Breast Cancer.  When the doctor explained to me I was going to have full year of treatment including chemotherapy, hormone therapy, a double mastectomy and then hormone treatment for the remainder of the year I thought okay I can do this right after I run the Falmouth Road Race. When I had my port put in that week I told the nurses, I just have to run on Sunday and then I'm ready to face this diagnosis.  Three calls later from MGH from nurses to inform me I wasn't running the race and that I would have to decline my number I wrote my email to Nick Keefe, the organizer of this race, and he said go fight this fight and we will see you next year.   When the email came out this spring, I wasn't feeling great and almost declined running, but one thing that cancer does is rob us of time.  I refused to let cancer interfere with another life event and I said yes.  I won't be done with my treatment at the time of the race, it won't be my best running time, but cancer will not get in the way of me raising money for these kids and their families to have the best week of their lives! These kids are the true heroes and have a strength that most of us will never understand! Any donation you can make to allow Tommy's place to continue to run would be greatly appreciated!
